NEW YORK — Going viral on social media can benefit companies and their brands enormously, ensuring an increase in sales, greater audience engagement and solidifying the brand as an industry leader.
About “67% of U.S. social media users are at least somewhat likely to research products on social media platforms before making a purchase,” according to a 2024 study. For businesses looking to achieve viral social media posts, the need to choose their platform wisely and master it, rather than spread their company presence across too many platforms.
Owners should consider what type of content fits naturally into their routine, whether it’s voiceovers, face-to-camera videos or carousel posts. Once a platform is selected, the business needs to tailor their style with either a unique look, catchy phrase or particular editing style. Creating a signature will make it easier for people to recognize and follow the business, and it should include a consistent intro, background or signature series.
Once a style and platform are selected, the business needs to define why it wants to be viral on social media. Is it to gain followers, increase sales or create new opportunities? Consistency is key, and content must offer value to the business’ audience and potential customers.
Posts also should avoid constant selling, but they should share experiences or insights that offer value and make audiences feel engaged and connected. Every post needs a catchy headline, visual hook in the videos, text hooks to prevent audiences from scrolling by and audio statements that grab attention.
